Elvis Presley is one of the most successful and impersonated performers of all time, and, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the King's death, a global gathering of tribute acts battle it out as the BBC airs their own search for the World's Greatest Elvis.

Elvis fan Vernon Kay, who was named after Elvis's father, travels the globe to audition hundreds of Elvis tribute artists, inviting the best 30 impersonators back to London for the studio spectacular.

In the first show we find out which performers from the first three specialist categories; Rock 'N' Roll Elvis, GI Elvis and Comeback Special Elvis, will be going through to the final. They will have to impress our tough Elvis expert judging panel, including choreographer Craig Revel Horwood, Rock Legend Suzi Quatro and Elvis' Best Friend, Joe Esposito

The search begins with two shows on Saturday. The auditions show at 6.55pm on BBC 1 and the next round later that night at 9pm and again on Wednesday 26th.

Vernon's search starts in Blackpool – the Vegas of the North – where he meets some of the best British Elvis tribute artists, and takes in Europe, Asia and America, meeting some of the best, the worst and the strangest Elvis Tribute Acts the world's got to offer. Along the way he experiences the weird and wonderful world of Elvis first hand.

Vernon ends his journey in Las Vegas – home of the Elvis tribute artist – where he actually gets to perform at an Elvis chapel wedding. Next stop is Bad Nauheim, in Germany, where Elvis was based during his national service.
Vernon also meets some of the best Elvis tribute artists the rest of Europe has to offer.
